This is it - the Statue, and I am in its crown (taking this picture)!!!

The Statue of Liberty's shadow on the Liberty Island in New York.

It took about 3 hours to get there on the narrow spiral staircase, it was also scary, but my friends and I were happy that we made it!

Now, when I see the Statue, I always think: I was there, right in its crown, and it makes me proud of myself! :) It was a really exciting experience.

This experience is even more valuable at this time, because the access is restricted now, as far as I know, because of the recent, very sad, events in New York City. I hope everything comes to norm soon!


P.S. On November 12, 2005: I created a workshop, improving my own photo. I cropped it a little on the right, saturated the colors and added a bit of sharpness. Please let me know what you think, was it an improvement or not really?.. :)

Taking into consideration my TE friends' advices and workshops, I decided to make a workshop myself, on my own picture, in 7 months after becoming a TE member and of course, using my newly acquired knowledge and photoshop software.



Here is what I managed to do. I like it more than my originally posted photo!

I have played some more but I guess few , if any, people would like the way I made the ocean blue. It looks more like the pool in my back yeard but I like it.

I have chosen the grass parts on both sides of the shadow and made them green. The strict dimentions in PSP CS are:

Color levels: -100|+100|-50



Full Cyan

Full Green

50% Yellow



Then I have chosen the path that is between the grass and the ocean and made it full Red.
