Photographer's Note
Officially, summer is over. Unofficially, it never really arrived this year in upstate NY. Or, maybe it did, but two trips to Mexico has spoiled me. One of my favourite things to do in summer is to spend the mornings and early afternoons at the Ithaca farmer's market over the weekends. Perched on the bank of Cayuga lake, the market is one of the most pleasant and relaxing places I have visited around here. Whether you are there to pick up organic produce for the week, or to have brunch (normal or macro-biotic), or to get your mother earth-greenpeace fix, or to socialize, or just to relax with a book, you will definitely enjoy your visit.

All her ducks aren't in a row, but that's the way a barefoot girl hanging on the edge of the dock probably prefers it. Great one, Prantik. Best, -Hugh

I like the very intimate point of view which you chose as this photo also this black and a white of circumstance... So congratulations and sorry for my poor english...

Two little toes that play with the ducks...romantic and rueful!
Very nice black and white, unusual angle that encapsulates a longing...
I remember this place, softly lit in October's slanted sunset, dark green water's edge.

this is a very moody picture Prantik ... like always everything is played at a very subtle level but have deep set emotions involved in this one vis-a-vis the content...this picture is of those variety that grows on you the more you look at it...and that's quite a good thing to have happened...

even though your mexican images have really shined (and I apologize for not commenting on more of them, they are great), this one is less popular but just as good, but in a different style, very Animesh like, as he correctly puts it very romantic. I also get the melancholic and peacefull feeling out of it, lake, ducks, reading books, that's very peacefull. With you unusual point of view and choice of focuse creating alot of debth, I would say this is one of the best duck images I have seen.

perhaps the strength in the photograph for me lies in the feet and the bit of the letter or whatever else she's reading.
you'e made the photo in way that i'm able to relate to it because of all the "apnapan" that you seemed to have poured into it.
feels very different to your mexico photographs because of the sheer amount of intimacy in it. and that too while maintaining a non intrusive distance with what's happening.
take care :)

hey prantik,
how've you been? it's been quite sometime since i last logged in to TE. couple of days of jetlag, couple of intercontinental flights later, i find myself catching up with some of the stuff that i was pushing behind for long. and boy am i glad that i logged in to TE. solely for this one. did visit most of my favorite works...but this one stands out. this shot in my view is an 'elegant' shot. elegant shots are not about great costumes and perfect postures to me, elegant shot is about geting close to your subject enough to present its story while the viewer is simultaneously made aware that you respect your subject and the distance between you two...very classic, very elegant. i can almost see the camera panning up from behind her and settling on a frame full of fishing boats...the first scene of a film maybe...
thanks for sharing this..may be i shud pick up my EOS soon, remove the dust and at least hold it close.
