Photographer's Note
I took this photo early one morning before the wind disturbed the water. Lake Gunn is on the road from Te Anau to Milford Sound, and is one of many scenic gems along this road. Good sunny days are rare in Fiordland, so I was happy to see some blue sky behind the mountains.
Scanned from a slide. I used a polarising filter to tone down the glare of the snow and enhance the blue of the sky. I have slightly modified the brightness (the gamma level, to be precise) and saturated the colours to make the scan look just like the original slide.

Wow - terrific landscape! You've caught the lake like it was glass. It looks like a tricky situation to expose correctly, and I think your approach was the right one, even though you've lost foreground detail.
I really enjoyed this one - thanks for posting it!

Beautiful, original composition and correct exposure in this fantastic landscape. The way you have pictured this reflex itīs real powerful. Congratulations. It deserves much more points without hesitation.

I love the symmetry. Stunning reflection.
If you turned the photos upside down not many would be able to tell the difference.
Depth of field is fantastic!
