Photographer's Note

If one goes down the stairs to the left of the Terrace Mosque in yesterday's main entry, one would get to the self-service branch of the Konyalı (Iconian) Restaurant, which has become a posh chain in Istanbul. This is an almost 180° panoramic view from our table on the terrace of Konyalı, stitched from five photos. On the very right (south), we can see the Prince's Islands. On the very left (north), one can barely make out the Maiden's Tower (Kızkulesi) at the entrance of the Bosphorus. A little left of the middle is the new Çamlıca Tower, a telecommunications tower with observation decks and restaurants. It was officially opened on May 29, three days after these photos were taken. To the left of the tower, we can see Çamlıca Mosque, the Islamists' recent contribution to the Istanbul skyline. You might have to open the image in a new tab in order see all this detail.
