Blue Mosque, a photo from Istanbul, Marmara

Photographer's Note

Perhaps one of the most famous mosques in Istanbul is the Blue Mosque depicted here in the evening. On arrival in Istanbul at 5am after a long flight from Bangkok, this was my first impression of Sultanahmet in Istanbul, and it's a good one. I have cloned out as many motion blurred seagulls as I could find. The blurred streaks added nothing to the image imho. The weather was great. About 15c in Istanbul before I went to Erzurum which is around 2,000 metres above sea level.

Hello Chris, Magnificent view of the Blue Mosque in the blue hour. When I came to Istanbul a few years ago, I also went first to see it. stunning view, wonderful colors and sharpness. I had my hostel nearby, and I saw this mosque every day for a week.

Hello Chris,

The Blue Mosque looks stunning in your photograph, although it's more like the Golden Mosque against the blue sky! The mosque is very well placed in frame, the main body of the building off-centre but everything well included. The minarets look like elevated arms!

I have seen many photographs of the Blue Mosque, but strangely enough, this is the first night shot. Beautifully done indeed under the blue sky of Istanbul. Some people to use the word "turquoise" to describe the true stone mosaic colour inside. Thanks for sharing, have a nice weekend.

The golden illuminations of the Blue Mosque are beautiful and I particularly like how the minarets are lit. The deep blue sky is the perfect backdrop. The sharpness is also impeccable.

Very good choice of elevated point of view so that we can see all six minarets on a row.
So this is the yellow-lit Blue Mosque during the blue hour. The upper part of the minarets seems to be illuminated in blue.
A great first impression when visiting a new country.
The roofs seem to be covered with snow but that's impossible since you write it was 15°C. Nice temperature for February.
