Like a Giant Fan, a photo from Manchester, England

I have been to Salford Quays a few times to photograph the very modern development and it surprises me how it is possible to see angles that were never evident before.

This is part of the bridge which leads across the quays to the BBC Studios. The focal feature is the base of the supports. Here, you will be able to see them in situ from my previous posting.

They look like the base of some gigantic fan, probably a suitable metaphor for something outside the BBC Studios!

I know modern architecture is not to everyone's liking but I hope you like as much as I do.

The unusual point of view works very well helping create an interesting graphical composition. Excellent light management with good colours and clarity.

Hi Beverly, Pictures of ours are close to each other's.
A kitchen knives advertisement... or a nice modern statue on the bridge?!
I any case, well spotted and included on the scene, The building glasses reflected and fine clear details of all those modern edifices.

This is superb. The graphism, geometries, reflections and impeccable sharpness are truly impressive. I love the tight framing which emphasises these wonderful elements and the predominant blue and green tones. Stunning work, congratulations.

Une belle composition où le graphisme prend beaucoup la vedette. Un pont décidément très moderne avec une structure à câble qui parait bien dans un centre ville qui ne brille pas par ses nombreux visiteurs.

Hello Bev,
A lot of modern architecture is stunningly beautiful. Surprising angles can also improve what was already interesting from another POV. You made quite a discovery (even if someone may have seen this before you) when going close to this particular part of the structure. It's a very decorative assembly of steel poles (I don't know what else to call them) which could easily have been taken for an artistic installation of no other purpose.

Hi Bev,
I liked this bridge very much, it offered great views of the Salford Quays. I would love to be there at the blue hour. This is quite a creative composition here with the elements of the bridge contributing to a surprising geometry. It looks very modern and elegant.
I bet Noel or Craig would love this place.

Like modern architecture when is creative and this is plenty of it, not only the supports on the front ( to me they are like giant lanterns with rays going up), but wires crossing the sky at the back add a great graphical effect

This is a cool and very modern view. All of the different lines and reflections provide a lot to look at. It's good that you included a link to get a a sense of what the entire structure looks like. It's hard to imagine from only seeing this view of the base. The people crossing the bridge blend in with the background a bit, but it's nice to have them there for a human presence. Nice framing of an interesting subject.

Hello Beverley, a good point of view with the strong fg shapes fanning out right in front of us,then an echo in the bg with the thinner cables of the bridge.All backed by horizontal and vertical lines of the buildings.
The colours are pleasing too.

Yes the structure does indeed resemble a giant fan or even a Scottish bagpipe. Good sharpness and the reflections in the buildings add interest. The people crossing the bridge in the bg add scale and animate the scene. Tfs.

and it seems like this Manchester area is becoming quite the popular spot for photographers isn't it.

this piece here looks more like a harp or some sort of instrument on a grand scale.

i was not a big fan of modern architecture . But since I'm on TE , I appreciate it much better . Especially when I see how good photographic subjetcs that it provides .

I'm pretty sure I've not been over this bridge yet, though I know the one by the Lowry Centre, which is similar by the look of it. I love the geometry you've picked out: it's graphic and well-placed in the frame.

a nice use of this element as a graphic mood in the compo, where we can see lots of modern façades filled with glass and metal. I was in this area, but I don't remember this. I had to know manchester and liverpool in an only 1.5 day and of course many nice things became off my trip.
