Photographer's Note
This photograph presents Mausoleum of General Józef Bem in my home town Tarnów. This place has some extraordinary atmosphere and although this is my third photo (here is the first and the second one) and this time I cannot complain about bad light, still I didn’t manage to give it a justice. I will keep trying.
While taking the photo I heard a primary school teacher talking to children about the late general Bem. I always thought that he was such an extraordinary person and that is why they have build a mausoleum for him, but the teacher said – the real reason was that he change his faith, and so he could not be buried on Catholic cemetery.
Józef Bem (1794, Tarnów – 1850, Aleppo) was a Polish general, an Ottoman Pasha and a national hero of Poland and Hungary. Bem, similarly to other Polish generals, fought outside Poland's borders for the future of Poland; anywhere his leadership and military skills were needed.
Except for the mausoleum shown in this photo, which is situated in the most beautiful town park in Tarnów, there is also a monument of General Bem, a street named with his name, a monument of his fellow friend, Hungarian poet Sándor Petofi, who has also his street. In the 170 anniversary of one of the battles fought by gen. Bem (26.05.2001) Tarnów received a gift from Hungarian friends: Seklerska Gate (click here).

Czesc Mariusz
Dobra prezentacja i ciekawa notatka
pozdrawiam

Hello Mariusz,
I was interested to learn about your home town. For you, it must be a warm experience to return to family, friends and familiar places.
You do yourself an injustice. This is a beautiful photograph, composed with great care and skill. It is a lesson to others in compositional excellence, the angled branch and shrub defining a starting point, which leads diagonally to the mausoleum and its shimmering reflection.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
Make no apology for the lighting here: whatever the light was like, you have made the very most of it to produce a stunningly beautiful photograph of this very imposing mausoleum to a great Polish man. And you have also written a very interesting and informative note.
The monument stands out beautifully against the light blue sky and the reflections of it in the calm water are delightful. Your composition is excellent too with the little spray of bright red flowers holding the foreground together perfectly.
Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and, as always, impeccable details and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. Thank you too for including a map - I was able, with the aid of the "little yellow man", to see this mausoleum through the trees from the roadway!
P.P.S. I see that I have already critiqued the "second" shot to which you refer in your note - I shall now go and write something about your "first"!

Hi Mariusz
well, looking at your map now I know where to find Tarnow! Its not far from Krakow.
so listening to what the teacher had to say about Bem, did it change your own opinion? were you a bit disappointed?
Personally, I think it looks quite beautiful!
I would be honored to have such a burial site when I die - but i have a funny feeling that won't be happening!
I'm not sure how you could have improved on this photo, looks great to me. warm and attractive colors for sure.
interesting note
cheers

Hi Mariusz
An impressive tomb, and quite unusual to my eyes too, I have never seen one on raisd columns like this. You comsed the scene beautifully and as mentioned above, the light is excellent, bringing such great color out across the view. That reflection on the shimmering water is such a bonus. Really lovely capture and great note, thanks!
All the best

Bonjour Mariusz,
Un très beau cadrage vertical. Le point de vue derrière ce qui ressemble à un bonzai est superbe et les quatre colonnes se reflètent superbement dans les eaux calmes.

Hello Mariusz.
Very interesting note, to learn a little of this character, of course his grave could not be more ideal, with that wonderful around atmosphere, beautiful location next to the pond and surrounded by vegetation, I like the POV detail, including the dry branch of tree in the foreground is the ideal touch.
A perfect very natural color.
A very bright image with optimum clarity.
Good job.
Happy weekend.
Best wishes.

Prominently on pillars and above the treres canopies, Mariusz, General Bem is present there all the time...
Fine mingling green tones of the garden, and contrast by the monument.
Fine taken from chosen POV.
Good evening,

Hello Mariusz,
That's indeed a very special reason to get a mausoleum.
I do not particularly like the monument but I do like your picture.
Of course, this mausoleum is best shown in the vertical format but you've added an interesting foreground that created more depth.
The slightly distorted reflection of the columns combines well the monument with the foreground.
I also think the picture is excellently balanced.
Best regards, Paul
