Photographer's Note
Situated in the downtown region of Kunming City, Yuantong Temple is among the oldest and largest temples in Kunming, boasting a history of more than 1200 years. The construction of Yuantong Temple was originally begun in the Tang Dynasty, and it was first named Butuoluo Temple. In the year 1301 during the Yuan Dynasty, the emperor ordered the temple to be destroyed and rebuilt from scratch, and gave it its name, Yuantong Temple. The expansion program didn’t finish until 1319, lasting 18 years in total. There were also several expansion programs in the following Yuan and Qing Dynasties. In recent years, continuous restoration and expansion programs were launched in Yuantong Temple. Work was especially notable in 1990, when the Bronze Buddha Hall in Xiaocheng Buddha Temple and the Sutra Depository in the east of the temple were built. Thus, the three systems of Chinese Buddhism were brought together in Yunnan Province, and is the only temple of its kind in all of China.

Hello Kamila,
A fine capture of this interesting and attractive temple. I like the point of view with the stone bridge coming in from the left making an excellent lead-line. The image is very pleasantly presented under an agreeable ambient light. The people crossing the bridge offer a good sense of animation.

BOnjour Kamila,
J'aime bien le point de vue. Le petit pont forme une belle diagonale dans l'image et guide le regard vers la très belle pagode haute en couleurs.Le ciel est magnifique et doux en arrière plan.

Howdy Kamila,
Fine view of the classical Yuantong Temple, over a millennium old and still in excellent condition, a testament to its design and construction. The Chinese architecture is very different from the medieval European gothic. The Temple has an attractive two hexagon roof design, with elaborate art coverings. And your image positioning is ideal, with the arch bridge leading into the Temple.
Good job,
Cheers,
Ray

Hi Kamila,
This is typical Chinese architecture. You captured it very well. I like the dark color temple contrasts with light color bridge. They are graceful.

Hello Kamila,
It's nice that you still have photos from your Chinese journey. This is another fine composition with the diagonal bridge leading up to the temple, where the corners are adorned with the red lanterns. The steady stream of people walking across the bridge bring life to the photo. As always the colours are strong and vivid.
Kind regards,
Gert

Kalispera Kamila,
Many elements to look at, elegantly combined and fill pic. space.
Light-baige bridge color and the ditch, contrast to the brown/red shrine edifice, adorned with red lanterns.
Charming and yet intriguing place.

hi Kamila
The lead in from the bridge on the left makes me really REALLY want to step inside the image and go exploring this beautiful old temple. The deep orange colors are a pleasant surprise in the roof, and the building is positioned perfectly between the blue sk and bright stonework of the surround.
The lion in the lower left looks like he may have jumped up in the air to get into your photo :) Photobombed by a Chinese stone lion, very cool.
thanks as a always
Noel

Hello Kamila,
You've depicted the Yuantong Temple with colors evocative of colorization, i.e. photographed in black and white, and colorized in the manner of postcards from the 30s, 40s and 50s. With the informative note you've submitted, this makes another excellent package for TE.
Warm regards,
Bulent
