Photographer's Note

This beautiful spot is just on the border of Utah and Arizona.
I gather that this lake, Lake Powell, is a man made lake, a part of the Colorado River. I took this photo from the dam that creates this lake. This is one of the most important water sources in the mid-west...and travels all the way to Las Vegas in the dry Nevada desert, where each person consumes an average of 8,000 litres of water per day! It's unfortunate that the colorado river no longer reaches the ocean because of the immense human demand for water consumption.

Glen Canyon and Lake Powell is a beautiful area to explore. Much less well known than the Grand Canyon, but very close by and possibly more beautiful with all the water.
