'Shabestan' in Vakil Mosque, a photo from Fars, East

Photographer's Note

'Shabestan' is a roofed area in a mosque for praying.

The Vakil mosque is one of the most valuable monuments dating back to Zand period. It`s construction was completed in 1773 AD and it was restored in the 19th century during the Qajar period.

Vakil Mosque covers an area of 8,660 square meters and it's Shabestan (seen in this shot) with an area of approximately 2,700 square meters, contains 48 monolithic pillars carved in spirals, each with a capital of acanthus leaves.

Salam Atousa,

I am very sorry but I must say “ Wow” at the very beginning. The colour tone of the interior is simply overwhelmingly beautiful. It is very rare for us to be able to see the interior of a true mosque. On TV sometimes, but the quality of the image is much superior like this. I really like the orange tone glow in the mosque. The angle and the level of the POV truly reveals the forest of columns and the space created by them. The presented image is a true success Atousa.

Wonderful composition on this beautiful interior, the set of arcs from the perspective made it ideal, too precious these columns, spiral fluted, with simple and elegant capitals.

Another lovely upload, an interior architecture of the mosque with a real sense of space and height wihch is so well exposed to invite the eyes in. The ambient under natural light adds to the atmosphere, fine perspective without distortion and nice verticals. It's a very good shot and you have captured the detail so well with lovely curves and lines. The glow of angled warm light shining through is most impressive for me. However, I miss something in this shot, the human touch, we cant have everything at times but certainly this interior shot and the challenges that go with them, a competent shot. Congrats

Hi Atousa,

the spirally fluted columns appear with excellent resolution. It is possible to see that in right and left handed spirals alternate — in the row in the foreground the columns climb in right handed spirals, the next row in left handed, etc. Excellent light management. After 238 years, the mosque is in flawless condition.

Beautiful shot, I love the golden tone of the light, illuminated the whole area. Different tonesa and shades really illustrate well the depth and distance of each collumns and arches. Even in this low light, you managed very good details of the patterns and art work on these columns, ceiling and arches.

Beautiful composition and good quality technically.
