Photographer's Note
I'm going to start a series of Chinese New Year pictures. I hope you will enjoy it.
For the first picture I am showing two mandarin oranges and 4 packets of red packets. During Chinese New Year, these two items will be everywhere among all ethnic Chinese household in Asia.
Children will seek blessings from their elders during the festival and in return they will get these red packets or more commonly known as 'Ang Pow' which is the direct translation into the Chinese Hokkien dialect.
The red packets contain money. A certain rule states that those who has married must give Ang Pows to those who aren't. Also, the more you give the more you will receive. However, nowadays more and more people are getting 'kiamsiap' which is the Hokkien word for 'Thrifty'. Ha ha... don't ask me why. Blame inflation.
I took this picture using the camera's built in-flash as well as an external slave unit.
I like this picture and I hope you like it too.
Cheers!

Thank you Yahwen for all the comments and observation you have given me. You know what they say, it takes one to know one hei mei. Two things will always reminds me of Chinese New Year; the smell and sight of mandarin oranges and the color of red. Hmmm...I see Kodak has came up with red angpow packets too. Excellent idea to shoot this with a white background Yahwen. Simply pulling and easy to understand.
Wishing you Happy & Prosperous Chinese New Year my friend.
