Photographer's Note

This photo was taken on the beach in Port Nolloth, a little town on the remote West coat of South Africa. It is situated close to the border with Namibia.
It is mostly a fising community but the true industry here is diamonds.
It is the only site in the world where diamonds are "mined" offshore by divers with big suction pipes. The diamond deposits are very shallow and mostly lie around waiting to be suctioned up to the surface from the ocean floor.
