Photographer's Note
On the Chao Phraya river not only ordinary Thais but also Buddhist monks are commuting like these three monks which obviously have a lot of fun. Monkshood does not mean sour face around the clock. Some of them become monk for a few days to make merit for their parents or somebody else, others stay longer and then there are are the "hard core" one which stay for life. However monkshood is a more or less male domain. There are very few females becoming nuns and they do not have equal rights and privileges like their male counterparts.

Hi Urs,
They certainly stand out from their drab surroundings with their brightly colored robes. They look to be having fun indeed. Nice with the royal yellow flag too. A good documentary.

Hi Urs
Good explanation of Monkhood. I have seen a lot of pictures on TE of them and they often look happy as you have shown here. Great chemistry between the men. They seem out of place in their surroundings. But that's what makes this photo unique and interesting. Some noise seen in the FG, but otherwise it is clear.

haha, funny and enjoyable triple portrait, Urs. Love the way the bright colors stand out and the contrast with this ferry environment. The big tires in FG are great. The framing of the group is excellent and its fun to look at their faces. Good informative note as usual.
friendly regards,

Hi Urs,
The monks are in a very joyous mood.
Wonder what they are doing in such
an enviroment? Very sharp detailed
image. Saturated colours of the robes
brightens up the place. Well done.
Have a nice week.

Hello Urs,
They seems like happy monks, maybe they are pleased by the thought of getting away for some time..!
Sharp fine details, and I notice the placement of the subjects in an unusual setting...
Some monks wear yellow while other have orange robes, is there a formal difference..?
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Urs,
another nice scene with the monks.
The composition is very positively surprising here. I like the tires at the bottom and the low POV.
Nice catch, TFS

Hi Urs. A very nice and colorful picture. I agree that monks should laugh, Why not if they fell up to? Men don't cry, monks don't laugh, that's rubbish :).
The colors are very nice and their vests very joyfull. The sharpness is great and it's thau have included the flag blowin' in the wind. I can not say the same about those black ugly boat tyres, ´cos I feel that don't belong there in such a colorfull and joyfull picture.
Besides that, it's a very nice shot. Best regards.

Hi Urs,
you captured a wonderful moment.
In some way remind me your photo of barefoot Franciscan monks reportedly always cheerful and prone to jokes.
There are a lot of optimism and smiles here.
Have a great week Tomasz

Hello Urs,
With shades of hot colors, the monks make an eye catching sight — otherworldly and spiritual. The huge towers used as bumpers for boats docking on the river act as a strong counterpoint — dark, monochromatic and earthy.
Warm regards,
Bulent
