Gortmore Viewing Point, a photo from Derry, Northern Ireland

Photographer's Note

A building in a farm, surrounded by green grasslands dominating the sea. The photo was taken on the road from Downhill to Gortmore View Point, on the slopes of Bienvenagh Mountain, an area filed as Outstanding Natural Beauty Area. From this point of view you have a panorama on Magilligan peninsula, Lough Foyle, Inishowen peninsula and part of north coast of Northern Ireland to Giants Causeway. I read that on clear days you can see too Jura and Islay islands in Scotland ! There are picnic facilities if you want to eat and take the most from the place. As you can see the weather was very cloudy, not the best conditions to take spectacular photos. But I loved here how the dark clouds give a dark colour to the sea, it created a very peaceful atmosphere.

This is wide, vivid and very intense Olivier. i love the way you have captured this beautiful scene. the hues and the light are fabulous...the ocean...well no words to explain what I feel!

Salut Olivier! Yes Ireland on a rainy day ... as most of the time :)))) how I have it in mind. Love the grey clouds and how they almost touch the sea, it becomes unclear what is what and yet there is this little nuance with the small waves on the water. Great the green stripe of land that goes out. Very good composition, very much "there". I like it a lot. Best regards, Barbara.

c'est assez minimaliste , mais cette mer et ce ciel gris qui se confondent , avec de subtiles nuances de lumière , c'est superbe . Interessant , aussi , cette ferme moderne en bord de mer : il n'y a pas que des petites chaumières blanches en Irlande .

Hm...another, "sunny" photo from Ireland ;))
I love your excellent shot, with a superb depth and beautiful, natural colours. The rainy sky gave a mystical atmosphere to this picture. Well done!

simple but effective compo. I adore photographs where you have to look tice in order to understand what your eyey see. Here it is the seamless change between sky, clouds and sea ahades in a perfect frame. Well doen. TFS
