San Frediano, a photo from Lucca, Tuscany

Photographer's Note

San Frediano is one of the main churches in Lucca, built between 1112 and 1147 in Romanesque style and modified in the 13th century. It has a simple facade (see here by Charo). It is dominated by a big mosaic which you can see in my workshop.

The shot was taken from the charming Guinigi tower (see map), the top of which you can see in this beautiful picture by Vinicio.

wieder ein ganz tolles Bild! Der Kontrast zwischen Architektur und Landschaft springt hier ins Auge. Dieser Ort scheint ja wirklich wunderschön gelegen zu sein. So ausführlich habe ich mir schon lange kein Foto mehr anfgesehen. Mit den Links und dem WS-Foto ein rundherum guter Beitrag!

Nice and impressive tower rising over the city roofs, the surroundings look quite high, I have never been to Lucca but I can't remember having seen mountains that high in Tuscany, so I guess I have to return to check it out !

Hello Guenther,
A fine composition of this beautiful church with its many storied bell tower. I like the layering effect offered by the different tones of red / green / blue. The colours, although saturated look natural and the sharpness is superb. Very well done.

Nice shot of this impressive tower. The angle of the shot is nice giving the scene a sense of depth. The church form a diagonal which leads the eye into the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The mountains form an excellent backdrop for the tower.

Ciao Guenther. Connubio vincente natura e arte. Buona la prospettiva, buona la torre come elemento verticale, situazione che ritroviamo sullo sfondo con l'impennarsi delle montagne. Aggiungo fantastica luce, ben gestita, così come i colori.

Beautiful church among wonderful Tuscany hills. Very impressive panorama, with some higher mountains in far distance. Very interesting tower, with one, two, three, ... columns in windows. Fantastic sharpness and colours.

Hallo Günther. Ein schönes und scharfes Foto der charmanten und sehr gut erhaltenen alten Kirche. Dein Bildaufbau mit den tief platzierten Häusern veranschaulicht sehr gut, wie der Turm beschützend über der alten Stadt steht. Die sanfte umliegende Landschaft mit den grünen Hügeln ist auch nicht schlecht :o) Ein gutes Bild von einem sehr schönen Ort.

bellissima prospettiva di tetti con il campèanile romanico che svetta e si staglia in bel contrasto sul verde degli alberi.

ho visto le immagini a corredo di questo bel post e devo dire che la chiesa è molto bella ed interessante.
La composizione è perfetta per l'ottima collocazione del campanile e della splendida facciata.
