Photographer's Note
My first visit to my old school after 20 something years later, Student were home for their lunch break. So I was able to walk around and really reminisce the old days. This little girl was the only one playing in the school. This is taken at the older part of the classroom where there were holes in the wall. There was a construction for the new classrooms next to this old one. I assume next time I go back, my old classroom will be torn down.
Some desaturation and and instead of sharpening, I applied some blurring on a different layer and merged it back for this effect. So yes there is major pp done to this shot.
See workshop for another shot of inside the classroom.

Hi Way,
Once again you share with us such a special story to go with this beautiful image. I love the dark frame surrounding her of the hole in the wall and just the touch of light illuminating her sweet face from the side. Simply lovely and your colour treatment suits the shot.

a quite delicate portrait, nicely naturally framed by the window and a soft light obviously not easy to deal with

Hi Way,
A beautful girl made by you even more beautiful in the soft glow and the minimum on sharpening you did. Light on her face and over her hair is also wonderful, you have a very good eye and touch in creating such photo's. Excellent framing and presentation, a real beauty..!!!

Hi, Way -
Blurring it was a good choice, but I think it needs a little more work around her left shoulder; it's not quite right.
It's worth some more work; this is a priceless portrait shot.
Best,

hello Way
this is a wonderful portrait!I love the pose of this cute little girl, and I love the light on her face and on her green t-shirt!But what I love the most, this is the softness given by your PP,the best treatment for a portrait ,so much better than sharpening!

Hello Way,
Nice post processing! Haha, good story. Clearly you have not been there for long if you did not know that your niece had a little girl :-).
Nice workshop as well. Good to keep that memory if they are going to tore down the classroom. Children in some parts of the world would be jealous of such a classroom...

Hello Way,
A very good portrait you did. The lightning is very smooth with a good rendering both in shadow and light.
Moreover, there is the frame inside the frame focusing the look on the girl and the green sweater by its color is giving a nice touch of color. In this way, the PP you selected fits well.
Yves.

hi Way
A great capture of the dark shade setting for your framing of this post and showing a superb expression on the little girl. I like the tight crop and framing around the girl's face.
A creative shot!

Hey Way,
Look at that face! She is simply adorable! You really did a great job here with the desaturation which I think was very appropriate. The effect you created enhances her lovely innocent features and curious look.
Lovely portrait!

Hello Way,
She's such a cutie, but your postprocessing has made this much more than just a portrait of a pretty girl. The desaturation and few colours have a very elegant and artistic effect.
Thanks for sharing,

Hello Way! She is CUTE ... and curious and a little hungry too - this is when I get impatient :))) Wonderful PP, I really like the softness in the picture, it adds another innocent element. Very artistic photo work. The frame is just perfect of the little window, sweet how she looks around the corner, you can see that she knows what she wants. GIRLS. I like the white background and that the rest remains somehow somber but her face softens the situation, I mean how could it not. We all want to hug her :))) Great job, best regards, Barbara.
PS. I guess you are sorting out your Easter trip :))) I know how this is, we all do. LOTS of work!

Your pictures, especially those from your home land, always tell a story & very touching to me as I read your notes. This not only is a beautiful picture, but with your PP & the glow effect, this portrait becomes amazing. So you are the li'l girl's granduncle..how beautiful a feeling it would have been when you understood the relation for the first time!

Hi, Way.
Splendid portrait in every possible respect. Unique shadowplay, superb colors, and a most inventive and skilful postprocessing. In my not at all humble opinion (IMNAAHO) a shot that qualifies as one of your very best, TFS! Incidentally, I've been overly busy with work for the past three weeks, but I should be back on my usual TE schedule by early next week. Have a good day, I'll see you soon.

Hello Way,
I missed this upload so far, and I am glad I discovered it. Excellent PP: the combination of desaturation and blur add an innocent kind of softness to the image. But, above all, it's the wonderful personal note which strikes a chord. This is so great...
