Photographer's Note

Mosquito net brings back nostaglic memories for me (I grew up sleeping in one in my Singaporean kampong house back in the late 70's and early 80's). I remember that the mosquito net we had was blue (mum, dad and I all slept in the same queen size bed in our zinc and wooden small backyard bedroom). This kind of living I am describing is of course non-existence in Singapore today (except for Pulau Ubin island with a population of est. 200).

On the other hand, almost every non-airconditioned housing in Bali has mosquito nets installed, otherwise you can scratch instead of sleep you night through.
