Photographer's Note
As rivers over shoot roads in the llanos, many egrets and herons sit and wait for migratory fish to cross over in the shallow water. This enables the birds to easily catch minnows that make this migratory journey every year. The back light helped to outline the wings of these moving birds and enable me to catch an instant in time that was just poetry.

Beautiful image--lighting, exposure, composition, depth-of-field, subject matter...everything. Well done. The contrasty backlight works well to illuminate the birds' translucent wings without throwing their bodies completely into shadow. Even the strong purple hue works well here. Your caption adds to the image. Many of your images--this one included--make me want to run to the airport and hop the next flight to Venezuela. To me, that's the mark of a great travel photo.

Excellent shot. The backlighting are wonderfully done here. Especially considering the white plumage of the egrets.

Fantastic shot capturing a variety of poses. I do find myself wondering if the blue tint to the shot is true to life.

Wow!
I've just spotted this shot, and having read Leo's own comments totally agree, that this is pure poetry.
Having read everybody elses comments I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said.
Wayann's comment is almost as poetic as the photo > "Beautiful.... the wings....."
I do feel a little like I missed the party when this was first uploaded, but going back to the photo, I see that the party is still in full swing.
