Photographer's Note
The last leg of the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu descends from the Intipuncu (Gate of the Sun), high above, into the ruins of the city. You can barely see some parts of the city in the opening in the clouds. The peak to the right of it is Huana Pichu, which is prominent in most of the classic pictures of the site. Of the people who hiked up the kilometer to the Gate of the Sun from the city that morning, it seems that we were the only ones who were rewarded with some glimpses through the clouds, as we looked back toward the main site on the way up. After this picture was taken, the clouds thickened again and that was it. Unretouched, just resized for TE, some level correction and mild unsharp mask.

Wow, what a view it must have been. The color seems to be a bit off. A little leveling to bring back the white of the clouds. I also wish that you could include the path a little more in the picture.

The photo is not very good for the clouds, but I know the feeling you had when you take this photo.
