I've posted the first day of 2007, I've posted the last day of 2007, now it's time for proper "first day of 2008" post. here it is, from the city of Baños, one of the most cheerful and colourful places I've ever been. sure, partially it's because of us - turistas (see the canyoning add in the photo), but still.

Baños is located on the northern foothills of the Tungurahua volcano. it's named after the hydrothermal springs of mineral water located around the city. the city is also a Roman Catholic religious center, as some Catholic believers say that the Virgin Mary appeared nearby a waterfall, so a sculpture of the virgin, called Virgen de Agua Santa, was placed in the cathedral.
