Photographer's Note

Common in swamps, wetlands and lakeside in the Pantanal, the black-collared hawk (Busarellus nigricollis) has an unmistakable rusty body, lighter underneath, with a white head and a clear black collar crossing the neck.

It usually allows great approach, being somewhat slow and quiet. His flight, however, is powerful, and rises soaring up to great heights. This specimen was standing on the edge of the Transpantaneira Park Road, shown in a previous photo.
