Photographer's Note

Nature has a remarkable rock formations that resemble animals, as Chichen (Quixadá-EC), Camel (Pancas-ES), Dog Seated (Nova Friburgo-RJ), Alligator (Caraguatatuba-SP), Parrot's Beak (Itajai-SC), Monkey (Marica-RJ), Lizard (Domingos Martins-ES) and Toad (Biritiba Mirim-SP). Another great example is the Rio Turtle Rock, located at Guaratiba mountain range in the western zone of the city.

Despite having only 98 feet, it offers the visitor
the chance to take beautiful pictures with angles almost never seen on cards Postcard from Rio de Janeiro.

The head of the Turtle, is a privilege to admire the pristine beaches and practically deserted the region: Perigoso, Meio, Canto, Funda, Inferno and Buzios which are only accessible on foot.

The trail to the rock is of moderate level and well marked and don't have signaling plates. On the journey, whose duration is around 50 minutes, the sea is always
on the right side. The tour starts at the beach Barra Guaratiba. If going by car, depending on the day, it is good to arrive early, as there are few parking spaces.

After 25 minutes of trekking, you can see the Turtle Rock. And going foward there will be a bifurcation: who follow the main trail (left side) will reach the wild beaches. The right trail, will lead Perigoso beach.

This trail of dirt road is a little steep and has some
small holes. It is essential to living with a soled tennis shoes appropriate to avoid slips and accidents.
