Photographer's Note

Our first stop in Ouro Preto was on the Sao Francisco de Paula Church which offer a nice view to the city on one side and the mountains in the other. No turists around, the church seems in a kind of abandoned state. Just whem I was preparing to take a picture for of its baroque architecture I saw a girl coming into my framing running after a little colorfull plastic ball, I could not resist including her in the decor. The place seems to be hers and her brother's playground, from a distance their parents monitor the kids play. Few locals lay on the benches and walls taking the best of the winther afternoon sun.

About the church: ' It was built in betwen 1804 and 1898 being the last church built during the colonial times in Ouro Preto. The church is in local baroque style and the original image of its patron saint was sculpeted by 'Aleijadinho'.

(Fonte Wikipedia)
