Photographer's Note

This was taken in a small sleepy village between Alter Do Chao and Santarem. The same place I posted the photo of women chatting on a village plaza. It was posted yesterday on TL.

I used my wife's small point and shoot camera on this photo because my compact flash card is full and there was not time to change, less I lose this scene.

Since 1985 it was widely believed, including Brazil that about two million people live in the Amazon Basin. Those people includes Indians, prospectors, rubber tappers, river dwellers, nut gatherers and herb collectors, live permanently in the region.

Also look at my postings in TrekLens Faces & Images of the Amazon River.

PP Work: Adjust levels control; Adjust saturation; Sharpen; Crop; Frame; Reduce image size for posting.
