Belém do Pará is the second largest city in Amazon region with 1,400,000 inhabitants. It is one of the most beautiful Brazilian towns, with a own culture and amazing buildings and scenenies.
This city was founded in 1616 in the mouth of Pará river, the gate of Amazon river.Between 1890 and 1920 this town and region lived under the "rubber age" and many money and fortunes passed by its streets and port and the city got lots of monuments and culture.
This is an analogical image took in 2003. This place is a public market, build in iron and imported from Europe 100 years ago. We can see the way marchants put the meat to be sold in northern-Brazil, in the open air.
