PAROARIA DOMINICANA, a photo from Distrito Federal, Center-West

I was walking across the City's Park when I noticed this local bird, it is named "Cardinal from North-eastern" and is science name is Paroaria dominicana. It is wild from central to north-eastern Brazil. The real cardinal bird has a big crest and it is more famous than this. You can see a mount created by the ants in the lawn.

estava caminhando pelo Parque da Cidade, quando notei esse pequeno "cardeal-do-nordeste" no meio do gramado, seu nome científico é Paroaria dominicana, ele é nativo da região entre o centro e o nordeste do Brasil. É parecido com o cardeal verdadeiro, mas o outro tem uma crista.

Brazil is indeed a great country for bird photography! I have never seen so many bird species as I do in your TE gallery. THey are so colorful and different from what I am used to in Europe.
This one was nicely captured maybe not as sharp as it could be but still a great catch.

Olá, Jorge!

Estou de volta depois de 2 anos! Tenho visto no facebook suas fotos de uma longa viagem pelo interior do Brasil, que tem cada lugar incrível! Essa aqui me chamou a atenção, de umas das aves mais bonitas do Brasil, na minha opinião. Além do cardeal e do cardeal-do-nordeste, tem também o cavalaria, mais comum na região do Pantanal, que também parece bastante com eles. Não encontrou aí em Brasília o Wagner (wgreis) atrás dos passarinhos?
