Photographer's Note

The people of Samoa is very proud of its cultur and history. On the island of Savaii the villages are very well organized and everyone has duties to fullfill. The chiefs decide all important subjects and visitors are strictly obliged to respect and follow the rules of each village.
Usually I don't take photographs of humans but the strong and proud people of Samoa are absolutelly fascinating people. So I asked this polynesian mother in a small village at the very western tip of Savaii for the favour and she agreed with her asking view.
It is a habit to spend some cents to the village if you wish to visit their natural treasures, like beaches, springs, waterfalls or pools. Usually these attractions are hard to find since signposts are missing or have been removed or the attraction lies hidden in the jungle. If you kindly ask the chief, and spend some cents, the village will supply a guide to show you the way.
