Photographer's Note

It rains an average of 182 days in year in Milford Sound. Annual accumulation of about 268 inches a year makes it one of the wettest places in the world. The rainfall creates dozens of temporary waterfalls (as well as a number of major, more permanent ones) cascading down the cliff faces.

We were there on one of the rainy days and got to experience thundering waterfalls pouring off cliff faces. Low-hanging clouds and mist added to the primeval atmosphere.
