Bride & The Good Shepherd, a photo from Canterbury, South Island

Photographer's Note

I took this photo on the shores of Lake Tekapo, in Canterbury, South Island. You can see the Church of the Good Shepherd which was built in 1935. There was this just married couple taking some wedding photos so I also decided to take some wedding photos by myself.

Hello Eino,

The setting is beautiful, no wonder the bride wanted her photographs taking there! Your shot is very well composed with good f/g interest and the church well positioned - the only thing to spoil it, for me, is the bride. She is out of position for the shot and drags the eyes away from the lovely movement towards the church. Sorry! Had you been photographing the bride, your positioning would have been different.

Hello Eino - Fabulous POV which includes this beautifully lit clump of grass with such excellent texture. I have to disagree with Bev wrt the bride; to me she completes the balance of the shot by completing a triange. She also adds a narrative element; who is she? what is she doing there? what is she thinking?

I also have to disagree with Beverley! (but this is what I like here). The bride is adding a very nice human touch to this already well known scene. You were really lucky, I think. You were also lucky with the light that is so wonderfully illuminating the church. A great capture!

Nice POV with the bush in the foreground, then the church and the mountains in the background. The sky is very nice too. Just a shame the just married woman looks to the border, it would have been perfect if she was looking for the lake !

Nice choice according to circumstances. Your beautiful model looks like a godess of light hit with the late afternoon sunlight. The shadow also helps to make a dramatic stage. Beautiful work.

Exactly the fairy out of a story with the with lady on the edges of the rock.
We see a wonderful mountain landscape picture.
Nice perspective lovely colors, sharpness and clarity be superb.

Both the woman in white and the grass in the foreground are eye-catchers in the scene, with the church as a third...
