A rural scene taken from highway 7A just south of Hanmer Springs in New Zealand's South Island.

Incidently the early Polynesian settlers named the country Aotearoa which means 'Land of the long white cloud'.

Yes, seems like the Polynesian did a mistake there...

Still, New Zealand is one of those countries I'd love to visit, and this photo maintain those feelings. It seems peaceful and natural, although the high-voltage line almost destroy that. But the high-voltage line seems somehow not very visible because the landscape is so beautiful. The horses make a peaceful mood, but they also bring life to the picture. It's a nice photo, thanks for sharing.

A perfectly idyllic picture. Very possibly this is part of a totally modern farm, but it looks like time has stood still för decades. A good composition that takes in a lot of the rural scenery while giving a lot of focus on the long grey clouds.

Hi Marlene,
Quite recently I saw a picture in a paper here of some very peculiar clouds. The picture was actually taken in New Zealand, so this upload really confirms the theory that there are many odd clouds there. A beautiful picture and those cables actually add a dimension to your composition too!

If only you'd taken a few steps further you would have been able to avoid those damn power lines.
Superb shot, the colour tones are spectacular. And how about that cloud....brilliant.
Colour saturation here is excellent, I like what you've done in post to enhance the image, it works.

the perspective you chose really makes a visual statement. it seems as if the clouds are pushing down on the ground below.
