Photographer's Note

Taken almost a year ago whilst on a tour of New Zealand, I took this shot at dawn from the side of Mount Taranaki on the west coast of the North Island.

This shot is looking almost north across a plain, which as you can see was covered with cloud. Also as you can see a cloud layer above where I was. The change in the light was spectacular, and hopefully i've been able to capture some of the mood.

There is a local saying re the mountain, which is almost conical, and overlooks the city of New Plymouth. The saying goes, 'if you can see the mountain (taranaki) it's going to rain, and if you can't see the mountain,'s raining!'. It was obviously raining in New Plymouth on this day.

You can just see some of the New Zealand bush in the foreground, as the land falls away.

Hope you like the shot,
Take Care,
