Photographer's Note
I believe Swan River is the center attraction of life in Perth. People go to this river to run away from the hustle and bustle of the city's life. It provides a relaxing air for anyone needs to be refreshed.
Anyway, the picture is about one of the so many jetties in the river. This jetty is actually located around the suburb where I live: Nedlands.
It's an unused jetty (I'd think so) and it's only used as a way to the restaurant on the right side of this picture. It seems to be quite a popular restaurant since it's always full of people, especially on weekend. It only opens in the afternoon until night; perhaps to catch the right mood of the river for their customers' satisfaction.
I've never been there. I'm more interested with it as the object of my shot than with its food =)
I like the "blue" feel of this picture. It's just after rain and the wet patches on the jetty make the mood of the picture even more "blue".
I hope you like it.

Hello Toby,
A brilliant night capture, but a little soft around the edges. Some sharpness would benefit your photo, just a simple touch in Photoshop. The diagonal jetty structure is well exposed and is a good leading element in this composition. It is difficult to position yourself here, as the post interrupts your view of the restaurant. If you went more forward, the top of the light would disappear out of sight, so you would have another ugly post! You can not win there! I suggest taking long exposures away from direct sources of light as it can affect the quality of the surroundings and become too dominant. But OK, it works nicely here! Well done and keep posting.

Nice night capture. The BLUE is cool and I love the lights like stars. Simple, but effective composition. Nino

It's the orange and blue contrasts that do it for me, as well as the different colours of the lights and the reflections in the sea.
Yes a lovely night shot - I always think I should take more photos at this time - long exposures bring out the best in the inky blue sky.
Cheers

Hello Toby, A great night sht and a brilliant composition. I like the strong diagonal of the docks and the nice stars formed on the light by using a small aperture.
I think you should just use a sharpening filter as it is often the case when publishing in small formats like on TE.
That's good work, congratulations.
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Christian

Hello Toby! Very nice the star effect on the street lamps and the warm light on the jetty leading to this restaurant out there, and why not trying it out, some day in nice company maybe? The blue mood in the sky is really wonderful. A great evening photo indeed. Perth is a great town that offers so much, and it stays on my wish list of places to return. Great job, Toby! Barbara.
