Photographer's Note

The middle of Australia is often called the Red Centre thanks to the colour of the earth as you can see here. It's so red thanks to the oxydated iron in the soil. The sky is also very pure making it so blue and easy to polarize if you're in the right direction.

This photo was taken somewhere on The Old South Road which is south of Alice Springs.

Le milieu d'Australie et souvent appélé le centre rouge grâce à la couleur de la terre comme vous pouvez voir ici. Elle est si rouge grâce à l'oxydation de la fer se trouvant dans la terre. Le ciel est très pur permettant un ciel si bleu et facile à polarizer.

Cette photo a été prise quelque part sur l'Old South Road au sud d'Alice Springs.

Très jolie composition avec des superbes couleurs, beaucoup moins belles que la Corse certes mais bon...:o)

Hi Nikki,
I know the landscapes look all very familiar, but it really seems i have driven this road 8 years ago. From what i remember and seeing here that is that you had much better light than i had, the tones are much deeper with a really perfect contrast in them. The right tree is a bit tight in the frame, but it really enhance the feeling being in the middle of nowhere.
You know i like these deep colours....wonderful..!!!

Un superbe endroit, mais difficile d'apprécier pleinement avec la fièvre et frissonnant, heureusement il nous restent les images, un poil trop saturé, mais j'aime comme ça

Pfuuu ca c'est du rouge aussie qui saute a la g...figure !
Jolie perspective rouge (t'as pas trouve de chemin jaune ou aussi tu penses a passer du bon cote comme Zepi ?) avec des couleurs qui dechirent merci la pola, par contre je trouve que c'est dommage d'avoir coupe une partie de l'arbre a droite.

Hi Nikki, Amazingly strong colours, the light is stunningly bright also, nice depth, an area that looks so barren, however the tyre tracks tell me people visit, great shot, I’m not sure if a person in the photo would have ruined it or improved it?, however TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Bonjour Nikkis, avec cette terre rouge et ce petit mont bien centré, le titre « de in the middle of nowhere » est bien adapter à cette situation et s’impose de lui-même, il ressort avec une éloquence manifeste de la photo, on se croirai presque dans l’Ouest américain du temps des westerns hollywoodien, les couleurs sont superbes et saturées pile poil, le polarisant contraste à souhaits pour donner ce bleu intense et merveilleux, vraiment comme j’aime, bref, tout simplement splendide cette couleur rouge qui embelli le paysage et fait presque la beauté de l’image à elle seul, bien amicalement

Vaya colores! Aquí sí que el contraste entre la tierra y el cielo está llevado al límite. Soberbia imagen, compuesta muy bien para subrayar el contraste! Gracias por esta foto y por mostrarnos este magnífico lugar.

Looks like you had some warm weather out there, unlike here in Switzerland! The colours of the land and sky really shout out in this picture, and there's a nice perspective given by the tyre tracks which lead to the distant rock. I suspect you increased the saturation here; I would have preferred a more natural version to appreciate better the colours, and the tree on the right is a bit tightly cropped. Nevertheless a great photo and an apt title.

Hi Nikki,
The very strong contrast between the steel blue sky and the soil red as a beetroot fascinates me highly. When you look through your eyelashes to it the picture becomes more abstract and the light of the colour even more attractive.

incroyable terrain, le bonheur pour le peintre, et celui je pense de la photographe. dommage que ce petit arbre ne rentre pas dompletement dans ta compo.

On ne parle plus ici de rayonnement UV mais carrément de radiation. J'ai du mettre mes lunettes de soleil pour ne pas bruler les pupilles. Moi je dis que ça a l'air sec en Australie, enfin c'est une impression, sans autre... Il me faut de l'eau fraiche et tout de suite! Joli contraste de couleurs.

Amazing scenery Nikki. It must really be a striking experience to travel these Australian roads. Your photo speaks thousands to me. That deep hot earthy red against the deep blue sky is unbelievable. So simple, a photo mainly built around two colors, but so effective. The way our eye travels right to the big rock in the center is a cool trick. Very good indeed.

Nikki! I forgot my sunglasses! The contrast and colors are amazing. Not a lot to do here just point and shoot and you already have a real winner of shot, although your composition with that tree at the far right makes it even better. It shows that you clearly have a good understanding in how to craft a photograph.

Very interesting place. The red/orange sand and the deep blue sky complement each other very beautifully. The wide angle really helps add to the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. I like it.

En effet, on comprend le surnom de l'endroit...
Les couleurs polarisées sont superbes, l'absence de nuage rend l'image très graphique : du rouge du bleu à égalité.

Super colours and contrast from the red way to the blue sky. I can feel the heat only if I looking on this picture. Anytime we can give a lot of water from germany. But, how did we do it?

El rojo y el azul dominan la foto por encima de cualquier otro color o tema.
El camino también funciona muy bien en la foto (todos los caminos son, potencialmente, muy atractivos y éste no iba a ser menos).

Hi Nikki, I went through your gallery and found this one, now THIS is polarizing!:)) Magnificient soil colour, first time I see something like that! Also your compo is good, seems simple, but several elements in the frame, like the trees and the cliffs in the distance, are placed very well. And nice to give such prominence to this RED earth. Just great!

Fantastic colors and depth of field. That red earth is amazing, not a speck of brown dirt anywhere in the red center. And not a spot of camera sensor dust on that perfect blue sky. Hope you had a great time down under.
