Pulpit Rock, a photo from Victoria, East

Photographer's Note

This pillar is named 'Pulpit Rock' and stands as an island on the end of the Mornington Peninsula's Cape Schanck Coastal Park. The sea can be treacherous, and large waves often wash over this area. Last light in the evening is particularly beautiful here.

Hi Anthony from Melbourne! Always nice to come across someone from my own city, and find a scene I'm familiar with. This one I recognised immediately. It's a nice shot in evening light. Maybe it could be a smidgin sharper (I think it's a scan) but the white foam looks great and so does the slightly pinkish light on the rocks in the foreground. Good viewpoint and well chosen off-centre position of the Pulpit rock.

Good image, well done.
What I like more is the warm colour of the light hitting the stones, and creating a particular visual effect.

The foreground blacks add a lot to the image and make the pillar stand out even more. The texture of the wave and the sense of movement there contrast very well with the strength and stability of the rock. The light was really beautifull. It must have been a very enjoyable evening when you took this shot.
