Photographer's Note
Please open both photos in new tabs for the better versions.
When we drove out to the Meryla section of the nearby Morton National Park the road took us through a badly burnt area, burnt in the fires of January last year.
Most of the trees in these 2 photos are ironbarks (a eucalypt). They have hard bark that doesn't shed, so well over a year later the trunks are all still very black from the fires.
However, as you can see, these trees do generally recover from the fires with new growth all up the trunks. There is another photo of them in the WS.

Hello Ian,
It's good to see nature recovering, and much faster than any severely burnt human would ever manage. But these trees are so unfamiliar to me that I would have accepted the black trunks as probably quite normal unless I had known about the fires.

Gert

Hi Ian,
The length of the path is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the trees. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
A picture with a very positive note.
The young greenery seems to resume mainly along the trunk, which leads to many elongated shapes into the height.
Anyway good news for the national park.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ian,
It is a very hopeful picture with these tree which suffered so badly in the fires, but are now again green and full of young leaves. Well captured in a fine sunlight.

Hi Ian,
We have ironbarks too in the outer northern suburbs, probably on the south side too, but that's almost like a foreign country to me, lol. It's the same in London. People in the north rarely go south of the Thames and people in the south rarely go north. Still a few trees left here and there where reserves and parks have survived the relentless suburban sprawl and real estate encroachment. Good to see the forest making a comeback. Tfs!

In Portugal the fires kill the pine trees but the eucalyptus can get a new chance, a sad memory of the fires in your country.
