As we travelled east roughly following the Murray River we came to the Wakool River lined with old dead River Red Gums. Swimming along the river was a black swan, an iconic Australia water bird (see a closer photo of the swan in the WS).
Elsewhere in the world swans are white but many black swans have been taken to other countries for zoos with some escaping and establishing themselves in the wild. I saw some living in El Retiro Park in Madrid. There are good numbers elsewhere in Europe, especially in England and also in China, Japan and New Zealand.

Hello Ian,
I had to strain my eyes to find the black swan (easier in the large version), but the scenery is quite interesting so the photo is worth a good look, black swan or not.

Gert

Hi Ian,
The length of the river is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the trees and of the clouds. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian
Perth isn't the only place with black swans in Australia as can be ascertained from this photo. Maroochydore in SEQ is also named after aboriginal / indigenous peoples calling it the 'place of the black swans'. The older trees seemed to have died but there is new growth behind them. Tfs!

HI Ian,it needs to open the tabs to have a chance to see the black swan, so small and far. Obviously the WS is better to show th bird, but the main pic is a lovely view of this wild and natural river,i like it! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hi Ian,
Seeing a black swan would be for me like looking at the negative of the world. Interesting reportage. Beautiful view down the river, the vegetation is quite extraordinary. Pleasant pastel colors.
Very well done,

Hello Ian,
I've seen only once a black swan and that was in a park with ponds and fountains in Belém, Portugal. So maybe that swan had its origins in Australia.
The many dead trees give a special cachet to this nature photo.
Good to be able to include a lot of smaller waterplants in the water in the foreground.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ian
Rather dull and 'muddy' looking riverscape made attractive by the receding trees and touch of water reflections.
Best regards

Lep pogled, dobar tekst ...
Lepa priroda, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa oblacima koji dolaze i najvaljuju promenu vremena.
Dobar rad sa lepom fotografijom u radionici.
Zelim vam lepo popodne, sve najbolje.

Hello Ian,
I like the sense of depth created by the river. Those dead trees give the scenery an eerie air.
