Photographer's Note
Please open both photos in new tabs for the better versions.
The old shearing shed (wool shed) in Kinchega NP now has quite a good shearing related museum display.
In the early days of mechanical shearing everything was powered by big steam engines. The 2 steam engines in this photo were used to power shearing in this shed.
In the WS is a photo of an old wool press for compacting wool into bales for transport and another one showing an old locally built wagon with wooden wheels (!) used to carry the bales of wool to the river to load onto river boats.
Taken under dark skies with rain coming shortly afterwards.

Hi Ian
The red soil matches the rust red machinery and equipment in this virtual outdoor museum. Good sharpness and well framed and composed using the rule of thirds. Tfs!

Hi Ian
I didn't actually realise that wool making is a proper industry. I always visualised it in a small scale. These giant machines make an incredible impression. I suppose the cloudy wether added some rough touch to the scene as well.
Very good reportage,

Hello Ian,
The machines have turned a wonderful colour now!
I have never really rated rust before, but these look great - sharply revealed despite the grey sky.
I was fascinated by the w/s photographs!
It was remarkable how much the beams, pillars and machinery reminded me of the old mills in Lancashire!
Like you, I was surprised by the wooden wheels but, if you have chopped a tree down, you almost have a wheel shape!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ian,
There are interesting items in the WS, but these rusty engines are true beauties. They are wonderful monuments to earlier days of mechanization and also form part of a composition of very pleasant soft colours.

Hi Ian,
The tree is framing well the shed. The point of view is showing the details of the shearing shed, of the tractor and of the steam engine. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian
A lovely composition. The machines true works of art, their colours really good against the grey of the buildings.

Hi Ian
Shapes of that museum candidates are classic and I like that design, combined with rust and the result is quite photogenic. Abandoned at a temp graveyard with many stories to tell....
Best regards
