Ah! Uploads are working again.
At the old Dunlop Station beside the Darling River there is a small building just near the homestead. In it are 2 very different rooms. On the left you see a bathroom which may have been for employees to use. The water heater next to the bath is an old wood chip heater common in Australia 1800s. There would have been another section above where a fire would be lit for heating the bath water. You can see where the flue went through the wall. It looks like they had to pay extra for soap although that sign may be a recent addition.
On the right is a school room which was used for the owner's children - no solid wall, just fly wire and a slow combustion wood fire to try to warm the room in winter. It would have been extremely hot and probably very dusty in summer. Isolated properties in the Australian outback frequently had a live in tutor or teacher.

Hi Ian
Why did the heart of Australia become a huge desert? Is it because of the lack of water resources and dams? I hope the whole continent of Australia becomes a forest. The weather feels too dry. It's a great weekend soon.

Hello Ian,
Interesting photos that tell me of attempts to make tough living conditions bearable. No matter what was done it would have been either hot or very cold and nearly always dusty. I don't envy them.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian
I remember chopping wood in the backyard of a friend's home in Stanthorpe for such a wood chip heater bath in the late 1960's. Good duo of images from this old sheep station. Tfs!

Hi Ian,
The Dunlop station has a good collection of antiques. The point of view is showing the details of the bathroom and of the classroom. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian
There's some ye olde good stuff there! I do like this combination of light and the shadow made by the wooden frame. The time was just right and the exposure control is spot on. Well done
Best regards

Hello Ian,
An excellent portrayal of the outback. So, there were no solid walls? But how was heat kept in winter? With some clothes placed on the walls?
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Ian,
It looks like everything in the bathroom is made of metal, even the walls. The schoolroom looks like a cheerful place.

MT
