Photographer's Note
Some more photos of the destruction caused by the current bush fires around the nearby village of Balmoral. This time they aren't of houses but of other destruction.
I should mention that eucalypts are very resilient and despite the fire will regrow.
This one shows the warped railway line running through a burnt forest area - no trains apart from steam train rides from a nearby railway museum (unharmed in the fires) use the railway line.
In the workshops are photos of area around the bus shelter and the remains of a fence.

Bonjour, cher Ian,
A travers les différentes prises de vue, l'on voit les arbres calcinés par le feu. Cela donne un territoire de désolation.
La voie de chemin de fer est fort bien placée dans la composition.
Amitiés.

Hi Ian.
This must be a very distructive power that forced many people and animals to flee for life while the enormous loss of forrest and properties are being lost. I am still wondering how the trees are standing after such wide-open fire...TFS!!!

Hello Ian,
Amazing what the fires did with the rails. Fantastic reportage but it is so sad to see. The people lost their properties but so many animals lost their lives and will die from hunger when the forests and bush is burnt. What is the situation in the Blue Mountains? Have the fires something to do with the eucalyptus trees that are inflammable?
The photos are of great quality but what is importance of it.

Hello Ian,
Another set of documentary photos showing us the destruction caused by the fires. Strictly photographically the main picture is a good composition with fine depth, and the photo showing the remains of a fence has a strange beauty, like some kind of art installation. But generally it's another sad reminder of this disaster.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Ian,
The land now looks barren!
The blackened trees look like permanent shadows!
For me, the most poignant photograph is the the fallen tree; it is as if the tree tried to survive but broke in the end!
This is devastation!
I hope you and your family are safe and that things improve rapidly.
Bev :-)

Bonjour Ian,
C'est épouvantable ce qui se passe dans ce beau pays que j'aime beaucoup. Je comprends très bien ces gens qui refusent de serrer la main du premier ministre un peu responsable de tout ce qui se passe.
Amicalement

A ghost forest! Another sad photo, a very good perspective of the railway track, but I'm afraid you have to wait long for the train to go

Hello Ian,
Despite you don't show us houses, the view is very sad. I had some photos the rail-way line at Felsőtárkány in Hungar, its very similar, runs in the forest, but in a green vegetation. I hope I will never see it like this!
Best Wishes,
Gy

Hi Ian,
All these blackened trees give strong impression of devastating fire on this place. And the railway damage gives a different aspect. That rail has expanded on heat and made a bad warp. View along the rails gives good perspective.

Ian, i was moved by this huge scale natural disaster. Millions of endemic animals were killed, many houses were destroyed and human beings died. Moreover the fires are still very active these days and difficult to control due to the heat and the winds. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello Ian,
In the States, the main news of Australia is about great fires. I am very sorry that so many people lost their lives during this fire.
The photo shows how the high temperature during this fire destroyed the railroad track and surrounding bush.
Great reporter's photo with perfect quality.
Best regards,

I love the fire burnt country,
The blackened, charred ranges...
A continent girth by fires...

Dear Ian,
A valuable testimony of the desolation that is taking place in your part of Australia !
How long will it go on for ? How long will it take for the trees to grow again ? For transport to be rehabilitated ? For the fires to start again ? For the humans to realise that money becomes worthless when nature has been destroyed ?
Thanks for sharing and kind regards.
Marie-Louise.
