Thongs, a photo from New South Wales, East

When I took this image, I felt I could never post it on TE? But I see recently the strong controls have been lifted and domestic animals are now allowed!! which I am pleased about..

This image however is not about domestic animals or even aboout this dog- Its about THONGS!!! Australia's NATIONAL Shoe.. Oh yes to the rest of the world a thong is a very delicate piece of clothing that we would struggle to show on TE..

Lets just say if you asked a woman in America to show you her Thong - you might get a slap (if she was not your wife or girlfriend).. yet in good old Down Under its their NATIONAL SHOE..

I took this image sitting on a bench on the edge of Sydney Harbour one morning when these two gentlemen and a dog - stopped to exchange greetings and eventually got talking - it was just after seven in the morning.. One was from Eastern origin and the other of American origin -- They eventually swopped business cards- to me it reflected the wonderful diversity of life and culture in Australia..

So next time you are planning to go to Australia - no matter how old,shape, gender - just dont forget your THONGS- It would be rude not to be seen in public without them.

I can see a little dog funny impression.This dog looks down on the flip-flops. Nice picture with the funny title.

Hello Richard, I remember my English sister inlaw calling them flip flops, don't know which is sillier, flip flops or thongs, on second thought the way they fit between the toes they remotely resemble the thong that you mentioned. Yes very much part of our relaxed dress code, not sure we can blame it all on the warm weather either. It's always interesting to note how things are seen by visitors compared to the locals. Cute little dog, was the owner carrying a plastic bag to the doggie poo. :-)

Hi Richard,

i think in this image the animal is just part of an everyday life scene, but it is important for overall composition and it makes the image special. There would be no reason not to post it.

The "just legs" scene plus the dog looks very creative and i like it very much. TFS, best regards, F.
