Photographer's Note

I went to Thornton for two days on a plein air painting trip.I stayed at a famous artist's studio with another six aspiring artists. We went on walks by the Goulburn river at different times of day, taking reference photos and in mid morning and early afternoon we attempted to paint a favourite scene.

It was incredible to see the Goulburn Valley looking so green, since driving there we passed many kilometres of burnt forest, farms, timber yards, garages,fences- a land scorched beyond belief. I saw for the first time how ferocious and destructive the recent fires were as we drove beyond Black Spur.

To see what I am talking about see Santo's (Skippy) photos.
