Photographer's Note

The title was apt as the this once very busy Railway Station at Strahan in South west Tasmania is now relegated to a Museum Piece. Strachan,in South West Tasmania while somewhat isolated is now a sleepy little town, a real niece tourist spot. Although this was mid January(our Summer) the weather was rather cool and i took this shot in the early evening. It's hard to believe that this little station handled a lot of copper ore and passengers and that it once bustled with activity and was just as noisy as the adjacent Wharves, now also defunct. Strahan is however a tranquil place where the Ghost of the past still echo, and where one has to amble and stroll, otherwise things just fly by and you miss the the little things. The ABT Railway is also an ingenous piece of engineering , as it a Cog Railwailway, and one can still take trips to Queenstown and return on the now fully restored track.
