Photographer's Note
I hesitated to share this photo because I suspect that my friends from Brisbane must have already shown it many times. My only hope was that maybe my shot is more original.
I guess that there were also much better explanations of its purpose and history than I can do, however, shortly, it came from Nepal in 1988 for Expo and was bought by the Brisbane City Council to stay. It is situated in the park on the South Bank. The structure is a wonderful piece of art with quite big sections made from one piece of wood. The sculptures are beautiful and impressive, but as this is Pagoda of Peace, its theme is love. I am afraid that if I present details, they will be judged as offensive and removed from TE.

Hi , Roman .
Very nice photo of this temple which is also a work of art .
Your note made me a little curious about what could be so offensive - and now ( having seen more photos from the temple elsewhere ) I see why you hesitate . On the other hand these wooden carvings were definately not meant to hurt anybody's feelings when they were made - and after all this is real, a part of the ornamentation , and everybody can see it - .
Let's show the world like it is .
When you look at other photos here in TE , you may find naked people as well , and sometimes there are discussions about them........
All the best to you ,
Dorte

Hello Roman,
I sit in this pagoda sometimes for a moment to reflect, I am glad that the city decided to keep it. It often causes much interest to passing tourist groups, as I saw today as I passed it. I understand what you mean about the carvings, only after a closer look rather recently, did I sight the sections you mention. A good still image you present us with here, and oddly enough without any people in it, the thing usually is swarming with people. Thank-you.

Hello Roman,
It is often difficult to get good exposure in night shots, but this is unusually good. The bright lights are not overwhelming, and yet the tile is easy to see, and the Pagoda itself is in very good focus. I like the one-point symmetry of the perspective. You have a distortion-free lens (if you draw lines of perspective along the walkway, the roofline, etc. they converge at one vanishing point on the horizon line). Very nice photo, Bulent
