Photographer's Note

Wilcannia is an old river port on the Darling River in western NSW, In the heyday of river boats it was the 3rd largest inland port in Australia with an impressive range of stone buildings having been erected in the 1880s, many of which are still standing.
In this photo of the main street you can see the police station, the court house an old warehouse and an old pub.
Time hasn't treated the town very well. No industry replaced the river boats and the town now is very depressing. Despite being on a main highway most people seem to drive straight through. The town is well worth a good wander.
