We drove south from broken Hill eventually reaching the junction of Australia's 2 biggest rivers - the Darling and the Murray rivers.
Wentworth sits at the junction of the 2 rivers with the building of most interest in the town being the old jail (or gaol for some of you). The jail dates from 1879 but closed in 1928 and became part of the local school.
These days it is open to tourists but was closed on our visit due to COVID.

Hi Ian
Wentworth detention centre? Did they keep the steam presser? Jokes aside, I like the wide angled panoramic format. Good sharpness and the watchtower adds a focal point. Tfs!

Hello Ian, obviously not in use, those walls don't seem that high. These days if it was still a prison I am sure that there would be spikes and razor wire atop the walls.
Taken from a good angle, the tower is perfectly placed using the rule of thirds.
Kind regards, Jean.

Pozdrav.
Lep pogld, dobar tekst ...
Lepo mesto istara arhitektura, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa oblacima koji najavljuju promenu vremena.
Lep objekat od cigle.
Dobar rad, lepa fotografija.

Hello Ian,
I had to smile when I read your notes!
The prison closed and became a school! Can you see the inference? Do the children need to be confined!
You have given the building its appropriate character from this angle. It was immediately recognisable as a prison before confirmation by your notes.
The panoramic view suggests a huge building.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Ian,
The trees are framing well the building. The point of view is showing the details of the Wentworth Jail. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian,pity that you happened to be during the closure for Covid, it would certainly have been an interesting visit. But the old prison is well maintained, certainly because it was built in a reinforced manner to avoid evasion and last over time. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ian,
A nice and wide composition to show this old jail with its classic design. The warm colours of the walls, entrance and watchtower stand out well from the cloudy sky.

Hi Ian,
I suppose those of students who would say that they feel at school like in prison would have a good point there.
Nice structure, a place which is better to see just from outside.
Very well done,
M

Hi Ian
It does look quite sturdy and much better use is now being made of this well-restored old prison. Nice bit of photographic history. The vp and exposure are both excellent.
Best regards

Hello Ian.
Very interesting this building converted from a prison to a school, I suppose that when restored it looks well preserved with its brick structure.
Well done. Have a great day.
Kind regards.
Luis.

beautiful the style of the jail, looks like similar with a castle in miniature. I liked the angle showing the two sides of the building. TFS.

Hello Ian,
Hey, school, jail, what's the difference? It would be interesting to see what the conversion to school did to the cells.
Regards,
MT
