Photographer's Note

How do you entice Sydneysiders to leave the comforts of home at the start of a cold winter to wander the city streets at night? Well Sydney makes use of the longer nights to host a light show on some of its most popular buildings, including the Sydney Opera House and St. Mary’s Cathedral, as seen here.
This year the Vivid Light Festival ran from mid May to June 20. Each night a variety of streaming images are projected onto the building, complete with music and a story. This year it was about the early years of Sydney, some of its early famous people and landmarks.
So here we have St. Marys cathedral light up with candles. I went twice, once with the local camera club (it rained of course) and then on my own. It was a great night and plenty of photographers out to catch a unique event.
