At Trilby near Louth we stayed very close to the Darling River. The river is lined with beautiful and grand River Red Gum trees such as this one. The bark varies greatly and after the old bark peels away each year there can be a whole range of colours - yellows, reds, purples, oranges and even blues.
In the first WS is a close up (zoom by cropping) of the bark on the main trunk of this tree, whilst in the second WS is an even more colourful close up of the bark on another River Red Gum, this time including blue, red and purple.

Hi Ian,
For some reason this reminds me of the Archer or Wenlock River on Cape York, although this area is a lot more arid. Well framed and composed with good lighting. Tfs!

Hello Ian,
Beautiful trees and fantastic close views in the WS. Both bonus photos are like modernist paintings. You could enlarge and print them and hang them on a wall.

Hi Ian,
The tree is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the Red Gum tree. The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nice day.

A type of Eucalyptus, isn't it? Ian.
Very similar to our Yarkon river banks, in tel-Aviv, where we have many different type of these trees.
Main post is exceptionally rendered.
Have a nice new week,
Ike

Hello Ian
I love trees ... because of the ever-changing 'foliage' in every seasons.
But this ... I've to say it is the 'Bark' of this River Red Gum. Must be very common in Aus , this tree.
The name of this tree is equally as interesting as its looks. I'm glued to it by looking at it like a sticky Gum :-) Just like in the WS, especially the WS1 - I like the most. Very 'flaky' patches of colourful bark.
Thanks for sharing this amazing interesting tree.

Hello Ian, three interesting pictures.
The tree is a worthy subject for your main shot, it has a lovely shape.
I love the close view of the trunk with those beautiful colours, a natural abstract.
Including the river completes the scene.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Ian,
very colorful trees indeed. You have found some nice fragments of the bark to well illustrate the variety of patterns and colors.
Excellent reportage,

Hello Ian,
Interesting trees, with which I am not familiar. I like the almost-abstract WS photos.
