Photographer's Note
Seven years on, it's more carnival than memorial. Seems it always has to be that way.
As pure and innocent as it may seem, this boy was part of the spectacle.
But the tribute in light remains quite pure.
Those beams cut through the night, through the clouds, as high as you can see. One woman asked me if they go to outer space.
I said I didn't know.

Hello Hugh,
Happy to see you again.
Here, a shot very welcome.
Je suis gêné comme toi si c'est plus un spectacle qu'un recueillement à ground zero.
Best regards,

A very powerful shot, Hugh. The two tall light beams so symbolic. For what should be a carnival of remembrance, I can sense what seems like a sad blank stare of emotion coming from this young boy.

Hello Hugh,
Welcome back. :-) I really like the way all the elements in this photo come together. The fact that it is night, and the sky is black, only makes it more powerful for me. You captured a unique POV of the "tribute in lights", too.

Hello Hugh - great to see you back! Very strong, symbolic shot. The composition is very well put together with all the elements falling nicely into place. Glad to see the notes or I may well not have realized the significance of the two blue stripes. Very poignant reminder of 9/11.
Warm regards, Roberto

Hi Hugh,
Interesting symbolism. the boy would have been a mete child in 01. Interesting composition with the beams balanced by the flag and the boy adds a human element.
thanks for sharing

"" One woman asked me if they go to outer space.""
Yes, they do...
against the all odds... Against the spiteful rage of the meat heads all over the world.
They go all the way into the space and even higher than that...
It's good to see your name in my intro..
All the best, brotha...
May the 2009 be entirely yours
