Turquoise, a photo from Montana, West

Photographer's Note

This is a shot of the Grinnell Lake, in the Glacier National Park. We hiked to the Grinnell glacier, which was really enjoyable and the ranger taught us a lot about the park. The hike takes almost the whole day but is totally worth it. Offers some breathtaking views of the glacier and the lake.

This reminds me of some hikes in the Rockies. The turquoise color is just marvelous, I know the breathtaking feeling when you got up there. Nice shot!

Hello Shaeri, a beautiful colour; I am always amazed that this is water, a transparent liquid, with no obvious colour.
There are different shades of turquoise created by the shadows from the trees, and the reflected light.
A good composition imo.

Hello Shaeri, this is a great looking lake you've found with excellent and very beautiful colour. A similar lake that I am aware of is Moraine Lake in Canada. It too is a glacial lake with this same turquoise hue. I like your position here, high up, and looking down on the lake and valley. The capture of the entire valley like this really gives the shot scale, as we can see those spruce circling the lake. Montana now becomes another area I will have to try to travel to.

I like a lot how you have composed the photo with the mountains framing the lake that looks like a jewel. if I hadn't seen some lakes in France that because of the minerals in them have the same colours, I would be tempted to say that the colours are not natural. but I know they are, and that makes the photo even more appealing. very nice work, my compliments.

WOW! What else can i say??
The color of the water reminds me of a place Cherrapunji in Meghalaya where i had come across a small water body where the color of the water was similar. Maybe i'll post the picture someday here on TE.

this place is very beautiful. The color os the lake is fantastic and the reflection of the forest make it more interesting yet. I would like to make a version in panoramic view, concentrating the vision in a strip where only are lake ant that reflection would be visible. Anyway this is a nice photo

my next trip up to the north will lead me close enough to this N.P. but not close enough to attempt to put my feet up to this place. My intentions will stay 'solely' with Yellowstone and Teton. A lake with this spetacular color will have to wait for one more month later when I will get to Moraine Lake in the Canadian Rockies. Marvelous POV with the aereal view of the lake nestled inbetween the mountains.

Such a lovely view up here, feeling on top of the world. It looks a little like Switzerland except for the difference of mountain and vegetation.

I am sure it was worth the long walk to get to this POV. I like how you have framed the image so there is some land in the foreground emphasising the geology of the lake and how it seems to be a giant bowl. Truly stunning colours. Well done
