Photographer's Note

I had just picked up a new lens and was wanting to try it out. I just happened to be a few km from my house and noticed an old building which I thought was going to be torn down.

The building has had an interesting history, but none that I can imagine the necessity of steel bars set into the brick. Looking at the brick header it was an original element of the structure.

I have enjoyed this image, instead of a clear window looking out, it is a very dark window which cannot be looked into, and the bars add to the idea of not seeing in.

The various shades of the brick and the texture is what originally drew me to the image.

This is a scan from a 4x5 chrome, and has had very little digital manipulation, which is close on my monitor to the idea of its representation on Cibachrome.
